About This Template

The template gives you an executive summary, five technical review areas, a risk register and recommendations divided into pre-close, first-90-day and longer-term actions. It is an outline for an assessor to complete from evidence and interviews. It does not generate findings or decide whether an investment should proceed.

Agree the review scope with the buyer before using the outline. Add areas the transaction requires, such as IP ownership, licensing, integration costs or AI dependencies. Those do not become covered merely because the document is called a technology assessment. Record what you examined, what access you received and where a conclusion depends on an unverified statement.

For each material finding, connect the evidence to a business consequence and a proposed action. Explain the assumptions behind any cost or effort estimate. Keep confirmed issues separate from questions that remain open. The summary should let a reader see what must be resolved before closing and what can be handled afterward, without having to interpret a technical score.

The download is available without an account or email address. Keep a working copy, record who completed the review and retain the evidence used to reach each decision. The online assessment is a separate way to organise your review; downloading this file does not create an assessment in the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the template generate a valuation adjustment?
No. It provides an eight-section report outline. Any cost estimate or commercial adjustment needs evidence, assumptions and a decision by the relevant parties.
What belongs in a finding?
State what was observed, which systems it affects, why it matters and what supports the conclusion. Separate confirmed issues from work that could not be completed.
Can I use it for a limited review?
Yes. State the agreed scope, access restrictions and untested areas at the start. Avoid conclusions about systems or records you did not examine.
